These aim to enable employees to work at the most appropriate times and locations, reflecting both individual and organisational needs and are summarised as follows:
-Maternity Scheme
This is available to all female employees. It allows up to 52 weeks' maternity leave – 26 weeks paid (18 weeks at full pay, which includes statutory maternity pay + eight weeks' at SMP only) followed by 26 weeks unpaid.
-Adoption Leave
All employees who will have ‘prime carer’ responsibility are entitled to 52 weeks' adoption leave, 26 weeks paid (18 weeks at full pay, which includes statutory adoption pay + eight weeks at SAP only) followed by 26 weeks unpaid.
-Paternity Leave
Following the birth of a child, an employee can take 10 days' (pro rata for part-timers) paternity leave at full pay, which is inclusive of statutory paternity pay. It must be taken within eight weeks of birth. Paternity leave is also available to the partner of an adopting ‘prime carer’ and applies to both men and women.
-Parental Leave
Employees with children up to the age of 14 years can take advantage of parental leave. It allows up to 12 weeks' parental leave (pro rata for part-timers) to be taken before the child is five years old, plus six weeks between the ages of five and 14 years. Parental leave is unpaid and can be taken as single days up to a maximum of four weeks per year.
-Flexible Working Request
We want you to be free to work in ways that suit your own responsibilities and lifestyle choices. It's a question of give and take: we have to balance your needs as an individual with the objectives of the organisation. We offer a range of policies and practices that help us strike that balance. That's why we offer a number of non-standard working patterns, such as flexi-time.
-Non-standard Working Patterns
A number of arrangements are available (part-time, term-time, compressed hours, job-share etc.) and can be agreed between the employee and line manager.
Time off for Dependants
Unpaid leave is available to all employees to deal with emergencies in the immediate family, such as problems with childcare arrangements.
-Paid Special Leave (bereavement, domestic distress or carer's leave)
Applies in exceptional circumstances and is granted at manager's discretion. Normally one to five days per occasion
-Unpaid Leave
employees can make requests for short periods of unpaid leave, taking account of business need.
-Extended Unpaid Leave
Available for between three and 12 months, and will be subject to business need
-National Training Service
Reflecting the Environment Agency's commitment to employee training and development, we provide a wide range of internal and external training solutions to enable you to develop your skills and competencies. These are funded by the Environment Agency.
-Lease Car Scheme
